VIKINGS: NEWMAN REUNITES WITH ZIMMER

Veteran cornerback Terence Newman will reunite with Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer for the third time in their lengthy NFL careers.
The Vikings on Friday announced that they have agreed to terms on a deal with the 36-year-old who has started 172 of the 174 regular season games he’s played in 12 pro seasons.
Newman, the fifth overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft by Dallas, played his first four seasons with Zimmer as his defensive coordinator. The relationship repeated in Cincinnati in 2012-13 before Zimmer took the Vikings helm on Jan. 15, 2014.
Zimmer, speaking to reporters at the NFC coaches breakfast during the NFL Annual Meeting in Arizona, said Newman “can still play.”
“That’s the biggest thing. He can still play. He came in the league later. I think he was 25 when he came in,” Zimmer said. “He struggled a little bit in Dallas and then played great in Cincinnati. Last year, he didn’t play quite as good, so seemingly with me, we get things fixed a little bit. I really respect him, and I think he really respects me.”
Six days prior to Zimmer’s hire, Newman voiced support for Zimmer receiving his first head coaching gig, tweeting, “That being said, Mike Zimmer is and always will be the best option to be head coach who is not one. #truth
In his first four years, Newman recorded 12 interceptions, 54 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and his two career sacks. Newman has had double-digit pass breakups each season and recorded 14 in each of his three in Cincinnati.

He garnered selection to the Pro Bowl after the 2007 and 2009 seasons, helping Dallas go 13-3 and 11-5, respectively. Newman had career highs of 21 pass breakups and three forced fumbles in 2009 in helping the Cowboys reaching the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs in which they lost to the Vikings.
Newman has 786 career tackles (622 solo), 37 interceptions and 169 pass breakups, and will be able to provide experience to a young position group. Captain Munnerlyn is the only defensive back on the roster with six or more years of experience.
Earlier this week, the Vikings announced they have agreed to terms with former Bengals safety Taylor Mays and former Eagles linebacker Casey Matthews. Zimmer coached Mays for three seasons in Cincinnati and first met Matthews at the 2011 Senior Bowl when the Bengals staff coached the North squad.

MINNESOTA FC ADOPTED INTO MLS

Most MLS fans have known it for weeks, but it’s officially official: Minnesota United FC will become the next MLS expansion franchise. The club, which was founded in 2010 and currently plays in NASL, will begin playing in MLS starting in 2018.
In a live announcement from the league (Landon Donovan was in attendance), Commissioner Don Garber broke the news in front of a joyous group of Minnesota United supporters.
The announcement is great news for people who believe in MLS and its continued success and growth. It’s also great news for people who like sweet logos, because check this thing out:
Minnesota_United_2014.svg
The jerseys are also phenomenal:
Minnesota_United_Jerseys_Combo_small
Minnesota United FC weren’t the only group interested in bringing an MLS team to the twin cities. An ownership group from Minnesota Vikings was also interested in bringing an expansion franchise to the area, but was beaten out by the established team.
The biggest issue for the newest MLS team will be a suitable stadium moving forward. Part of Minnesota’s bid to receive an expansion team was a commitment to building an outdoor, soccer-specific stadium.
From SI:
The key to United’s bid was its intention to build a downtown, open-air, soccer-specific stadium. The group has access to a piece of property adjacent to the Minneapolis Farmers Market, just a couple blocks from Target Field. It’s unknown whether the club will be able to forge a public-private partnership that might help fund the project.
That funding for the stadium will be the difficult part for the club, as Gov. Mark Dayton and state legislative leaders have already publicly stated they have no desire to lend public funding to the construction of a stadium.

AREGBESOLA RECEIVED LOADS OF ABUSE FOR OWING OSUN WORKERS 5 MONTHS SALARY

Sequel to the public declaration by the Osun State Governor that he owed his state workers 5 months salaries, a lot of reactions have emerged pointing accusing fingers to the acclaimed campaigner of change. Below are the verbatim extracts of the reactions:-
    • James
A labourer deserves his wages. Pay the salary today. This is the change for better we demand for.

tell them the true that you have use the money for buhari
  1. Olusegun
This is pathetic coming on the Newspaper to say you owe workers 5 months salary while you busy campaigning with the money. This is an act of wickedness APC change. This is the change we expect at the Federal level.
    Johnson
  2. So where have you been keeping the monthly allocation of 2.6 billion for the past 5 months without paying workers anything? Be paying them half at least.

    • Osei Tutu III
Where do you think the billions APC has been spending is coming from?
  3. Ogeni, Please tell us the truth, You have contributed so much to the presidential campaign of Buhari and that was why you can not be able to pay salaries.
Please remember that it is bad to deny workers of their wages.
    God is watching you.
  4. I guess you have not being eating since November.Lame excuse
    Egoigwe
  5. In other words, civil servants will not get paid until some imaginary means is available. Every month that passes arrears of salary increases, it multiplies with every tick of the clock as this clown waits for some means of payment to make itself available. He has failed his state and has failed as his state’s foremost civil servant by not putting in place financial and investment modalities that should have ensured payment of salaries before anything else. It would have been better if he did not utter one word than insult the collective intelligence of hard working Osun state civil servants.
  6. T.o Benson
Look at what this jihad man is saying, you can not pay your workers their salaries they worked for but you can use the same money they worked for to sponsor campaign’s,use their money to make sure you spoil GEJ government, look at it,nemesis have cought up with you,you are waiting for Buhari to win so that he divert money to pay your workers that worked for you, please help us to tell thiefnubu to clear himself of all the allegations against him,APC party should continue throwing their money here and there in the name of integrity, fools.
  7. Bej
This reminds me of one Chinwoke Mbadinuju who was once afflicted on Anambra State as their governor. He attracted the sympathy of some people, until Ngige came on board, paid of all arrears of salaries, then initiated and completed many solid road projects in a matter of months. He left office without ever defaulting on the payment workers’ remunerations. All this was possible, I learnt, because he called the bluff of his godfathers. Since then, I stopped believing politicians on the issue of their inability to pay salaries.
  8. T.o Benson
Thiefnubu and co had siphon osun state pocket without mercy, ooh,is misunderstood them by the kind of CHANGE the are clamoring for, this is the kind of change they want Nigerians to experience, thanks to almighty God that their plans had been leaked,Nigerians be wise, only Apc states are owing to their workers,is it good,Lai Mohammed over to you.
  9. chief John
He used d state fund for his election, Think outside d box Mr Gov
  10. tin jones
Stop giving stupid reasons why you haven’t paid workers their salaries for Five months bcos the money doesn’t belong to u or ur party APC,infact EFCC should come after u.
  11. kayode
pls i want 2 ask if dis man as nt gotten his own salaries 4 d past 5 mont? Nd wat has he bein doin with d little he claim it was given 2 him? A vote 4 apc is a vote 4 a chosen groups of arm robbers.
  12. soji
This is just the highest height of provocation on the workers of Osun state. Where is your thinking cap to generate IGR that can compliment the statutory allocation. You are voted in to provide solution whenever there is any issues. Ogeni, this shows incompetence. You are not just voted to go and be spending what some people worked for in terms of statutory allocation. You are to think of how to generate income for the state. I bet if you were a management staff in a bank and put up this kind of excuse at the QPR or MPR, your sack letter awaits you. It is high time that Nigeria get away with arm chair governor like you who can no mobilize/generate revenue for your state rather sits at osogbo and waiting for manner every month end from federal. If you are manager in a bank, you’ll don’t worth the salt neither do you know what you are doing. Better tender your resignation letter if you can,t do the job. Thank you.

    ola
  13. Stop that aregbe stop that has the reduction affected your own self in anyways, governance I think is for people who sees problems and look for solutions to it,I respect u more than this report pls abeg stop this if you have run out of ideas abeg exit the place.
  14. Olatunde Okedara
The point is are public servants being owed salaries:commissioners, legislators, advisers, and even judges. You say APC will fight corruption. How do you fight corruption when you put workers in very dire situations;situation of irresistible temptation. Please suspend all developmental and infrastructural projects and pay workers salaries until the state’s finances improve. Assuming you had a couple who are both civil servants with kids how did you expect them to survive in the last five months. If they were pushed to the wall by the circumstance which is not of there own making to for example steal to survive and they were caught would they be let go without punishment. Ogbeni, please rethink this situation. Very bad!
  15. emmanuel
At N4.6 allocation, he paid N3.6 salaries, right? How much is his average IGR? How come he borrowed so much before now if the Margin between his salaries and his total available source of finance is to slim?
    Aregbesola is evil and shameless.
It os a fact that all Southern APC Governors have emptied their treasuries is their tussle for Buhari VP, while their Northern counterparts help back for the mugus to pay.
Yoruba people hear your son speak oooo. Bobpyi ti je gbese!
Voters MarchdownBuhari. Amaechi cannot also pay Salaries, shame!
  16. Tolotolo Mess
  17. elvis
  18. dayo
  19. Awoniyi Gbeminiyi
  20.  Smart G-Your Excellency, You don’t have any excuse for not paying workers salary even for one month not to talk of five months. Failure to pay workers salary is dehumanity to humanity
  21. By the way are the workers not adding value to the treasures of Osun.
It seems from the explanation that their salary is a favour from Ogbeni.
When APC claims they will create 5 million jobs they mean 500,000 KAI, 2 million LASTMA, 1 million VIO, etc both at the state and local government levels.
They better employ productive people that adds value to the coffers of the state.
  22. Yahaya
  23. Don racxi
  24. EMMY
  25. Jamico
  26. Victor
  27. AYENIBABA
  28. emmanuel
Your common sense has been traded for evil machinations. You said only God knows the truth.
So what do you know in your life if you cannot add up figures?
Aregbesola generates more than N3 billion monthly in addition to the FAAC and JAAC payments.
That man reduced Buharis vote yesterday with that foolish talk and that was God turning their wisdom to foolishness

How to overcome Procrastination

Procrastination is the act or habit that keeps us back from what we should be doing, usually because of a distraction that is more favorable or more comfortable.

Some of the behaviors of ardent procrastinators are:
=> Putting things off till last date or later time
=> Carrying out less urgent task before urgent ones
=> Getting distracted before or while doing things
=>Facing things only when they are unavoidable
=> Claiming you haven't got time to do something
=> Not completing the task at all

Ways to deal with Procrastination
1. Identify that you procrastinate - If you're doing one of the points above, then believe that you're a serial procrastinator
2. Work out why you procrastinate - A self-reflection on why you are engaging in the points listed above would be helpful but a greater help would come if you can talk it out with a friend, to learn from their experiences.
3. Write out what needs to be done and break it down - A step-by-step breakdown of your activities will allow you to plan your day to accommodate and achieve your activities.
4. Complete the task - Never leave a task uncompleted even if it requires you setting a deadline.

Tips to help you finish your tasks
- Get rid of distractions
- Give yourself incentives for finishing the task
- Add in breaks at a certain interval especially when your task is boring and/or monotonous
- Get some help if required
- Talk to someone who has recently accomplished the task for inspiration
- Give yourself consequence for not finishing the task
- Announce your intentions to the world so that you can add pressure to yourself.

GEN. ABUBAKAR BROKERED PEACE DEAL BETWEEN JONATHAN AND BUHARI

Contrary  to the lies being circulated by APC cyber boys that the PDP Presidential candidate organized a meeting with Buhari to beg for safe landing after he might have lost the election, It was gathered that Ex-military ruler Abdulsalami Abubakar brokered the peace deal in talks between President Goodluck Jonathan and his main challenger Muhammadu Buhari.

Nigeria's two main presidential candidates have signed an agreement to prevent violence in tightly contested elections due on Saturday. The two promised to respect the outcome of a credible poll and urged their supporters to refrain from violence.

Gen. Abubakar stated that some 800 people were killed after the 2011 contest between the two rivals and that there should be no repeat of the ugly incident. It was noted that President Jonathan is facing a strong challenge from Gen Buhari, with some analysts predicting a photo-finish.
Thursday is the final day of campaigning and the government has closed its land and sea borders to ensure a peaceful election.

'Embrace peace'

The meeting between the two candidates came after Nigeria's National Peace Committee, chaired by Gen Abubakar, warned on Monday that campaigning had been marred by hate speech that could trigger a crisis in the oil-rich state.
It was reported that both candidates shook hands and hugged. They called on their supporters to embrace peace, regardless of who won.

But concern remains in Nigeria over whether the electoral commission is ready for the huge logistical exercise in sub-Saharan Africa's most populous state.
The polls were due on 14 February, but were postponed to 28 March to give the commission more time to prepare for the polls and for regional forces to regain territory from militant Islamist group Boko Haram in the north-east.

On Wednesday, army chief Kenneth Minimah said adequate security arrangements had been made for the polls. Anyone who caused conflict would meet "organised violence" from the security forces, he added.

POPE'S LETTER TO NIGERIANS AS MARCH 28 ELECTION APPROACHES

Vatican Radio released a letter by Pope Francis to Bishops in Nigeria to express his closeness to them in prayers as well as addressing issues surrounding the country Nigeria.

The 2nd paragraph of the letter, the pontiff spoke highly of the Nigerian economy which has grown to the largest in Africa in “recent years”, under Jonathan’s watch. Pope Francis wrote:
“NIGERIA, known as the “African giant”, with its more than 160 million inhabitants, is set to play a primary role, not only in Africa but in the world at large. In recent years, it has experienced robust growth in the economic sphere and has again reasserted itself on the world stage as an attractive market, on account of its natural resources as well as its commercial potential. It is now considered officially the single largest African economy. It has also distinguished itself as a political player widely committed to the resolution of crisis situations in the continent.”

The text of the letter has elicited reactions mostly favorable to the President Jonathan camp as they struggle to convince Nigerians of the Economic growth in the face of the APC’s heavy propaganda Machinery.

According to Wole Akinyeye “Can anyone take this from us? But it only happened under the watch of a VISIONARY LEADER-GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN! ‪#‎GEJTill2019 is the demand of majority of NIGERIANS”

Another commenter Mr. Richard, he said “Good deed has a way of speaking for itself. Good luck Jonathan is working, it’s no fiction, the world at large is attesting to that fact. Vote him to do more!”
“Pope Francis also attest to the growth of the Nigerian economy. Whose report do you believe? Don’t let the APC propaganda agents deceive you.”

Timi Remi-Meindinyo also said “Never again are we allowing a confirmed NITWIT rule us again! To reverse all the gains we have painstakingly achieved under the able leadership of President GEJ. Never again. Thank you and God bless Pope Frances.”

The Pope’s endorsement of Nigerian Economic growth sends a strong message to many more Nigerians who exalt his office as the pontiff cannot be seen to be an agent of the PDP or President Jonathan.
Read the full text of the Pope’s letter to the Bishops of Nigeria is below:
To the Bishops of Nigeria

Dear Brother Bishops,
While we walk this Lenten journey towards the Resurrection of the Lord united with the whole Church, I wish to extend to you, dear Archbishops and Bishops of Nigeria, a fraternal greeting, which I extend to the beloved Christian communities entrusted to your pastoral care.  I would also like to share some thoughts with you on the current situation in your country.
Nigeria, known as the “African giant”, with its more than 160 million inhabitants, is set to play a primary role, not only in Africa but in the world at large.  In recent years, it has experienced robust growth in the economic sphere and has again reasserted itself on the world stage as an attractive market, on account of its natural resources as well as its commercial potential.  It is now considered officially the single largest African economy.  It has also distinguished itself as a political player widely committed to the resolution of crisis situations in the continent.
At the same time, your nation has had to confront considerable problems, among them new and violent forms of extremism and fundamentalism on ethnic, social and religious grounds.  Many Nigerians have been killed, wounded or mutilated, kidnapped and deprived of everything: their loved ones, their land, their means of subsistence, their dignity and their rights.  Many have not been able to return to their homes.  Believers, both Christian and Muslim, have experienced a common tragic outcome, at the hands of people who claim to be religious, but who instead abuse religion, to make of it an ideology for their own distorted interests of exploitation and murder.
I would like to assure you and all who suffer of my closeness.  Every day I remember you in my prayers and I repeat here, for your encouragement and comfort, the consoling words of the Lord Jesus, which must always resound in our hearts: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you” (Jn 14:27).
Peace – as you know so well – is not only the absence of conflict or the result of political compromise or fatalistic resignation.  Peace is for us a gift which comes from on high; it is Jesus Christ himself, the Prince of Peace, who has made of two peoples one (cf. Eph 2:14).  And only the man or woman who treasures the peace of Christ as a guiding light and way of life can become a peacemaker (cf. Mt 5:9).
At the same time, peace is a daily endeavour, a courageous and authentic effort  to favour reconciliation, to promote experiences of sharing, to extend bridges of dialogue, to serve the weakest and the excluded.  In a word, peace consists in building up a “culture of encounter”.
And so I wish here to express my heartfelt thanks to you, because in the midst of so many trials and sufferings the Church in Nigeria does not cease to witness to hospitality, mercy and forgiveness.  How can we fail to remember the priests, religious men and women, missionaries and catechists who, despite untold sacrifices, never abandoned their flock, but remained at their service as good and faithful heralds of the Gospel?  To them, most particularly, I would like to express my solidarity, and to say: do not grow tired of doing what is right!
We give thanks to the Lord for them, as for so many men and women of every social, cultural and religious background, who with great willingness stand up in concrete ways to every form of violence, and whose efforts are directed at favouring a more secure and just future for all.  They offer us moving testimonies, which, as Pope Benedict XVI recalled at the end of the Synod for Africa, show “the power of the Spirit to transform the hearts of victims and their persecutors and thus to re-establish fraternity” (Africae Munus, 20).
Dear Brother Bishops, in perseverance and without becoming discouraged, go forward on the way of peace (cf. Lk 1:79).  Accompany the victims!  Come to the aid of the poor!  Teach the youth!  Become promoters of a more just and fraternal society!
I gladly impart to you my Apostolic Blessing, which I ask you to extend to priests, religious, missionaries, catechists, lay faithful and above all to those suffering members of the Body of Christ.
May the Resurrection of the Lord bring conversion, reconciliation and peace to all the people of Nigeria!  I commend you to Mary, Queen of Africa, and I ask you also to pray for me.
FRANCISCUS PP.

5 QUOTES FROM OBAMA'S SPEECH AND THEIR HIDDEN MEANINGS

1. “Nigeria is a great nation and you can be proud of the progress you’ve made” Obama acknowledges that Nigeria has made tremendous progress that we can be proud of. Listening to the APC’s message you will think that Nigeria is not Working and Obama rightly points that we have made progress under this present GEJ;s administration. Who would want uncertain change over the chance to keep progressing?

2. “Together, you won your independence, emerged from military rule, and strengthened democratic institutions.” Read the quote again. Obama says Military rule is a no-going back to. Do we want to go back to being bound by the shackles of dictatorship? Buhari says he is a “reformed democrat” but as we all know a Leopard doesn’t change its spot.

3. “You’ve worked hard to improve the lives of your families and to build the largest economy in Africa.” Contrary to all the lies that APC has been trying to sell. Our economy is progressing and it did not become the largest economy in Africa by chance but by good policies of the Jonathan’s administration. Obama states the fact whilst acknowledging livelihoods improvement and thereby makes APC the liars.

4. “Violence has no place in democratic elections—and that they will not incite, support or engage in any kind of violence—before, during, or after the votes are counted” When violence is mentioned, Nigerians cannot extricate General Buhari from his famous statement before the 2011 elections and his famous silence after his supporters went wild. The Blood of Dog and baboon statement recently made concerning the 2015 elections still echoes deeply. APC is threatening a parallel government also… Obama’s speech is a clear warning against that.

5. “Boko Haram wants to destroy Nigeria and all that you have worked to build. By casting your ballot, you can help secure your nation’s progress” Secure your Nations progress. Don’t Change your fortunes. Obama’s call on Nigeria to secure our progress is like a call to retain President Jonathan under whose Presidency this progress has been achieved. As it is ill advised to change a commander in chief during war, Nigerians must fight together and eliminate Boko haram with the Armed forces who are presently winning the war and sustain this momentum. Obama also said ”in this task of advancing the security, prosperity, and human rights of all Nigerians, you will continue to have a friend and partner in the United States of America.” Lest we forget, Nigerians are still much aware of the flagrant violation of Human Rights under General Buhari including rupture diplomatic relations with the UK and others.

Where do you think Obama is pitching his tent?
Your guess is as good as mine

ALL EYES ON NIGERIA DURING THE ELECTION by John Kerry

Nigeria's more than 70 million voters will soon go to the polls to choose their country's leader for the next four years. Whether the victor is incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan or opposition challenger Muhammadu Buhari is entirely for Nigerians to decide. Around the globe, Nigeria's friends will be united in hoping that the vote will be peaceful, transparent, and fair and that - win or lose - all sides will respect the outcome.

There are good reasons why the international spotlight is firmly fixed on Nigeria during this critical period and why we have come together to support an open and credible electoral process. Nigeria is Africa's largest democracy and what happens there will have an impact well beyond its borders. A successful election, free from violence and with wide participation, accurate vote counting, and responsible leadership from the candidates would inspire the region and spur future progress and prosperity. It would also be a historic show of support by Nigerians for democratic values and an equally firm rejection of the brutal terrorist group, Boko Haram, and others who advocate or perpetrate violence.

As friends and democratic partners of Nigeria, we urge that the voting for president and parliament go forward as scheduled on March 28; there should be no further delay of this crucial vote. We are heartened by the fact that Nigerians from across the political spectrum appear to recognize the necessity of inaugurating a new president by the constitutionally mandated deadline of May 29.

Obviously, we share Nigerians' concerns about violence, both related to elections and more generally. In 2011, more than 800 people died in post-election clashes, and a recent survey shows that half of Nigerians are concerned about political intimidation this time around. The good news is that President Jonathan and General Buhari have repeatedly and publicly stressed their commitment to nonviolence before, during, and after Election Day. Both candidates have affirmed their intent to act solely through legal channels in pursuing any concerns that might arise regarding the fairness of the vote. It is imperative that they - and their backers - live up to this pledge. Elections should be decided at the ballot box and, if necessary, in the courts; not through efforts to coerce others. Respect for the constitutional process and the independence of Nigeria's Independent National Election Commission, INEC, is the right approach, and the only one that offers a sustainable way to address Nigeria's many challenges.

The countries we represent, the United States and the United Kingdom, strongly support the pledges articulated by the Nigerian candidates. The elections must be decided in accordance with the rule of law. It follows that any person who incites violence at any stage in the electoral process, or who seeks power through unconstitutional means, should be held accountable and should understand that the consequences will be severe, both domestically and internationally.

After an election, it is natural to focus attention on the winner, but in any democracy, the unsuccessful candidates also have critical roles to play. No one expects any political leader to retreat from firmly-held policy positions or beliefs, but a losing candidate owes it to his or her country to acknowledge defeat as soon as the popular verdict is clear, to urge supporters to accept the outcome, and to advocate unity in the face of national threats. That is the kind of leadership Nigeria needs.

A free, fair and peaceful presidential election does not guarantee a successful democracy, but it is nevertheless an essential ingredient - especially now in Nigeria. This is a country rich in resources and blessed by a creative and dynamic population. Its leaders can be extremely effective as evidenced by their swift action to prevent Ebola from establishing a foothold in their nation - thus saving thousands of lives. Overall economic growth rates are healthy and parts of the country are doing well. And yet, Nigeria has been held back by local tensions, a wide disparity between rich and poor, the lack of an adequate safety net for the disadvantaged, shortages of electricity, a rigid bureaucracy, and widespread corruption. These challenges have made the country vulnerable to internal conflict including the kidnappings, murders, and other atrocities perpetrated by Boko Haram. Nigeria's next government will need the support of all its citizens to address these challenges, and its unity will make it easier, on the security side, for regional neighbors and the larger international community to provide necessary help.

We urge all eligible Nigerians to vote, to resist those who attempt to incite violence, and to come together as one country to defend against terrorist threats and to build the shared prosperity and enduring freedom their citizens deserve.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: MY FINAL WORDS

One of the golden adages that I cherished so much in life is "Every onlooker is either a traitor or a coward," to which I may add that to remain silent in the face of serious national political discourse with the prospect of instability and crisis is not golden. Since I've made my intention known about whom I support which is GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN, then I've decided to write this article to give summary that will end my campaign as the election holds in few days. As a Nigerian living in diaspora, I must confess that I refused to be swayed by the propaganda against GEJ having seen and confirm some of the accomplishments of the president having known that all the hue and cry about his inability to destroy Boko Haram or stem the tide of corruption were two intractable issues that were there before he became president; then I concluded that the man has actually been a transformative leader.

Being aware of the corruption busting, lock them up credentials of the ex General which were then criticized as regional assault, I have also become deeply disappointed by a number of things, namely, the presence of the likes of Asiwaju Tinubu, Atiku and host of other discredited and aggrieved former PDP stalwarts around him, the issue of his West African School certificate, which the army denied they had in their possession, his continued refusal to participate in a presidential debate, the lack of any detailed articulation of his plans for the country, the lies surrounding his state of health, the inciting statements he has made, predicting violence and bloodshed should he lose etc. the list goes on and on.

Again as I examined his performance in office when he was military ruler for 18 months I could not point to any defining achievement except that he locked up without due process over a 100 Nigerian politicians, a majority of whom were from the south east and south west, while Shagari was left to luxuriate in the comfort of a villa in Ikoyi. A selective prosecutorial discretion that was not lost on the late Fela when in bemoaning the treatment of Ekwueme wrote the following lyric in one of his songs, 'driver commit accident Buhari lock conductor". As much as I do not want to question his motives, I believe he should have been more even handed in his corruption crusade.

As he campaigns for the presidency once again with his corruption busting bonafides as his trump card , one begins to wonder if once again he will be selective in not prosecuting all the crooks around him, who are now financing his campaign. Which brings us to the issue of his methods and if they actually worked. As we can see every successive administration after Buhari have struggled with the issue of corruption and failed , including Obasanjo who despite all the public fanfare and publicity driven arrests and prosecutions left office himself richer than when he came in from prison as a bankrupt Otta farmer. As GEJ said in a recent interview , our practice of shooting armed robbers by firing squad has not in any way stopped people from committing armed robbery, hence a better and more effective method will be to deny people of the opportunities to steal, just as he did by eliminating the fertilizer middlemen, handing over NPA verifications to a third party, the utilization of a single treasury account which saved the federal Government over 500 billion naira and the reorganization of our payroll system, thereby removing over 46,000 ghost workers, with a promise to tackle corruption in the oil sector after his re-election.

As one of the main issues of concern in this election other than Boko Haram, corruption in Nigeria is an endemic problem. Truth be told, the average Nigerian has a very creative mind when it comes to thinking of ways to make money. Even here in diaspora where most Nigerians are hardworking and law abiding, those who commit crimes are usually so creative that the law enforcement officials are amazed at the sophistry of their methods. I guess most Nigerians subscribe to Oscar Wilde's mantra that, "anyone who lives within his means suffers from a lack of imagination". Maybe that explains why everyone seems to be on the take , from the customs officer at the airport or border crossing, to the Immigration officer at the passport office, to the policeman at a road checkpoint, the clerk at the ministry who demands a bribe before your file can be located and even the bathroom attendant at the airport whose palm need to be greased before she hands you some tissue paper. The list goes on and on. The question is , how many of these people will Buhari lock up?. Our methods of fighting corruption has to change, which is why I think GEJ's method deserves a try.

Contrary to all the talk of this presidential election being about corruption and the eradication of Boko Haram, in my opinion it is about power acquisition and the protection of ill gotten wealth by some powerful Politicians. Having read a lot of the Nigerian newspaper reports, it has become apparent to me that with all its fertility of conjecture , not one media outlet has conceived the real reason behind the mass movement of some politicians from the PDP to APC. Truth be told, most of them as the economic minister Ngozi Okonji Iweala rightly pointed out are people who being aware that GEJ will vacate their oil block licenses are scrambling to the APC hoping to protect their source of wealth. Others like Tinubu are hoping to benefit from the next oil block sweep stakes. Sometimes when people talk about corruption in the oil sector they fail to mention that most of those oil block licenses were awarded by Abacha , Babaginda and Obasanjo. Again if you look at the top 20 most lucrative oil blocks , you will discover that they were awarded to people from the north, including retired army generals, most of whom recently declared their support for Buhari.

Despite all I've said about Buhari, I still commend him for being one the few ex heads of state who left office without enriching himself, unless he was more careful in hiding his loot. But that alone does not qualify him to be president, hence he has some personal flaws in temperament, vindictiveness and religious fanaticism. It is pertinent to point out that Nasir El Rufai who now follows Buhari around like an idol worshipper once said this about his new boss, "Buhari remains perpetually unelectable as a result of his insensitivity to Nigeria's diversity".

His many vulnerabilities are very obvious. His profound and elevated sense of ambition, which is full with bitterness, malice and prediction of bloodshed should he lose are not admirable qualities Contrary to the inevitability narrative of many APC stalwarts, my support for Jonathan is not based only on hindsight but the facts on the ground. Once again I do not believe this supposed new political alliance between the south west and the north will yield the dividends envisaged.. It has never worked from the time it was first tried in the post Independence elections ,again by Obasanjo and now with Tinubu. We tend to forget that the Yoruba's are not good at playing second fiddle to any other group.

With the extension of the voting date, people are beginning to learn and appreciate the accomplishments of Jonathan which are impressive in the sense that he has tackled some long standing issues which previous administrations had shield away from. They include just to name a few, the revitalization of our railway system, which I am told has offended a lot of people in the haulage business. He has built or established 14 new federal universities, began construction of a new Niger bridge, modernized 22 others, constructed of a few power generating plants , kept the inflation rate at single digits and the budget deficit at one percent, one of the lowest in the world, making Nigeria the largest economy in Africa etc.

In terms of personal qualities, Jonathan is said to be an embodiment of good temper and highly affable quality. Those who have met him have emerged from his presence favorably impressed with his general disposition. Does that make him a very forceful leader ? No, but he is the kind of leader as the Americans will say , "you will want to sit down and have a beer with". In a continent that is full of dictators we, in Nigeria are lucky to have a leader who respects freedom of speech and of the press. We are lucky to be blessed with a leader any citizen can verbally abuse and still be able to go home and sleep peacefully without being arrested.

I honestly believe the result of the March 28 elections involves consequences, vast and momentous that we the electorate must bestow on it mature reflection before making our choices. This is going to be an election fraught with consequences, immediate and remote, such as human foresight could not penetrate. Like Wole Soyinka recently opined, it may be a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea. Its just that with the devil you can dine with it, using the proverbial long spoon, whereas even the best swimmer can drown in the deep blue sea. If I have to choose I guess I will choose the devil which to me will be Jonathan, hence the saying "the Devil I Know".

(VIDEO) Nigerian Emmanuel Emenike left the football field after booed by own fans

There were some crazy scenes during the first half of Fenerbahce’s 1-0 win over Besiktas this evening.
Having a difficult season in front of goal, Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike has clearly lost the support of the Fenerbahce fans.
The boos for him in the stadium were incredibly loud and he begged his manager to be subbed off.
Instead of waiting to be substituted, Emenike took off his shirt and walked off the pitch before being forced back on by the Fenerbahce coaching staff.
He was eventually taken off at half time.

Rivers State Dep. Governor's speech after decamping to PDP

My Dear People of Rivers State, I bring you honest and sincere greetings.

Today, I address you of the fullness of my heart, Recall that in December 2013, out of extreme loyalty to my Boss and friend, I joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) along with other disillusioned Rivers People.

Ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, I have continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony. The more I Struggle to belong, the more the Rivers man in me rejects the APC. After carefully studying, interacting and analysing the leadership of the party, I have come to a sad conclusion that the APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of prettiness and deceit. APC is a party founded on deception and it thrives on unholy propaganda and falsehood.
I therefore, on behalf of my teaming supporters, and my humble self denounce the APC and we all jointly and severally resign our membership of the APC.
My dear people of Rivers State, we of this generation will not in good conscience expect forgiveness and compassion rom our forebears, posterity and the spirit of our unborn generation it it is recorded in the annals of history that after 48 years of Rivers people supporting leaders from other parts of the country with our votes and resources, we were the same that witch hunted and hounded down the very first ever President from this region, granted us by providence. I wash my hands off this treachery.
In the light of the above, i wish to urge all my supporters, the Good People of Rivers State to join hands with other well meaning Nigerians to massively vote for President GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN (GCFR) and the Transformation Agenda that has brought so much relief and succour to the greatest number of Nigerians. I also urge all Rivers People to vote Chief Barr Nyesome Wike (CON), who has shown by his antecedence, track record and boundless capabilities that he will deliver good governance to the people of Rivers State.
Thank you and God Bless You All Abundantly…

NIGERIA FLYING EAGLES BECOME AFRICAN CHAMPION FOR 7TH TIME

Nigeria achieved a seventh title, beating hosts Senegal 1-0 in the final on Sunday at a packed Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in Dakar.
Midfielder Bernard Bulbwa’s first half strike was all the Flying Eagles needed to confirm their status as the most successful country in the history of the biennial championship. Nigeria’s other previous titles were 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 2005 and 2011.
The feat means Senegal will have to wait for their first major title at the continental level to match their status as one of the powerhouses of African football.
Seeking to avenge the 3-1 loss in the tournament opener, it was Senegal who got off well making their intent clear as early as the tenth minute. However, Nigeria goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo proved up to the task denying El Hadji Niang in a one-on-one situation.
The Flying Eagles will recover from the promising start of the hosts, cheered on by an ecstatic crowd which partially filled the 60,000 capacity Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in the capital, Dakar.
One of the usual long searching passes of the Nigerians will lead to the opener on 19 minutes. Midfielder Bulbwa trapped the ball nicely before delivering a spectacular thunderbolt that caught Senegal goalie Ibrahim Sy and silence the deafening crowd at the stadium.
It was Bulbwa’s first goal at the tournament and it came at no other than time than the most important game.
After the goal, Nigeria will slow the pace of the game allowing ‘Les Lionceaux’ to dominante possession. Three minutes past the half-hour mark, the homers had a good chance to score after Sidy Sarr had squared to captain Roger Gomis, but the latter fired wide to the chagrin of the crowd.
Five minutes before the break, the Senegalese were unlucky as a corner by Moussa Kone was met by a header lanky defender Mouhameth Sane hit the post with the Nigeria defence caught ball watching.
Senegal resumed with the same tempo and few minutes into the game were denied by Nigeria goalie Enaholo who palmed away Niang’s goal-bound drive to a thunderous applause from the pockets of Nigeria fans at the stadium.
Whilst the Senegalese had the upperhand in terms of possession it was the Nigerians who looked dangerous on the play.
Midway through the half, the Senegalese kept the Nigerian defence boiling with Sarr and substitute Alassane Sow leading the raids upfront.
After failing to make their dominance count, goalkeeper Sy was to rescue of his side with a superb save from a power-laden effort by Ifeanyi Matthew three minutes from time. The Flying Eagles held on to achieve a record extending seventh title in the biennial tournament.

However, it is a known fact that having children in a union should not put a stop to being affectionate about your partner. Many marriages break down these days because this generation of women have become so career-minded to the point that even the obvious needs of the man are left unattended to. Women no longer ‘kill’ their men, they surprisingly allow them to run wild and cheat anyhow.

If you want to tame your husband, you must become a Ninja, you must first learn the ropes and master the use of weapons. Nobody becomes a Pro without tutelage. A Ninja must learn to sacrifice her happiness for the other. She must be ruthless in executing the commands. She must be swift and deadly.
Here are 42 things to do as a woman, to tame your husband with love and affection….

1. Behave like a female, i.e. all the tenderness of a female–a man doesn’t want a man for his wife! A perfect wife is one who doesn’t expect a perfect husband. How we handle our husband’s shortcomings reveals more about our own character than our husbands

2. Dress in a pleasant and an attractive way. If you are a home-maker, don’t stay in your sleeping suit all day. Go to the market, buy push ups and G-strings.

3. Smell good.

4. Don’t lay out all your problems on your husband as soon as he walks into the house. Give him a little mental break or you will unconsciously send him to a beer joint.

5. Stop nagging, it puts him off.

6. Never talk about your spousal problems to anyone you meet, not even under the pretense of seeking help! If you think you want to solve legitimate marital issues, do it yourself and do not run to a third party unless its a life threatening issue. Mediate any injustice done, talk it over after he calms down. Allow him whenever he is angry.

7. Be kind to your mother-in-law the same way you would like your husband to be kind to your own mother.

8. Learn all the rights and obligations of each other. Focus on fulfilling your obligations, not demanding your rights.

9. Race to the door when he comes home, as if you have been waiting all day for him to come back. Smile and hug him.

10. Keep your house clean, at least to the level that he wants it.

11. Compliment him on the things you know he’s not so confident about (looks, intelligence, etc.) This will build his self-esteem.

12. Always tell him he’s the best husband ever.

13. Call his family often.

14. Give him a simple task to do at home and then thank him when he does it. This will encourage him to do more.

15. When he’s talking about something boring, listen and nod your head. Even ask questions to make it seem like you’re interested.

16. If he’s angry with you and starts yelling, let him yell it out while you’re quiet. You will see your fight will end a lot faster. Then when he’s calm, you can tell him your side of the story and how you want him to change something.

17. When you’re mad at him, don’t say “YOU make me furious”, rather, “This action makes me upset”. Direct your anger to the action and circumstance rather than at him.

18. Let him chill with his friends without guilt, especially if they’re good guys. Encourage him to go out, so he doesn’t feel “cooped up” at home.

19. Learn how to tell him what you expect without him having to guess all the time. Learn to communicate your feelings.

20. Crack jokes. If you’re not naturally funny, go on the internet and read some jokes, and then tell them to him.

21. Learn to make his favorite dish. If he likes suya, learn to make suya, if it is pepper soup and agidi, learn and make it at home, isi ewu etc The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

22. Don’t ever, EVER talk bad about him with friends or family unnecessarily. If they end up agreeing with you, you will see that it hits you back in the face because you get more depressed that you have a bad husband–and other people also think you have a bad husband.

23. Use your time wisely and get things accomplished. If you’re a home-maker, take online classes and get active in your community. This will make you happy and a secondary bonus is that it impresses your husband.

24. Love him and cherish him. Tell your husband you love him countless times. .

25. Have a race or play a game with your husband and let him win, even if you are much fitter and stronger than him.

26. Keep fit and take care of your health so you will remain a strong mother, wife, cook and housekeeper, you will not get FAT and frumpy.

27. Refine and cultivate good mannerisms i.e do not whine, don’t laugh or talk too loud or walk like an elephant.

28. Do not leave the house without his permission and certainly not without his knowledge.

29. Make sure all his clothes are clean and pressed so he is always looking fresh and crisp. If your schedules will not allow, find a way to get it done by taking it to a dry cleaner.

30. Always let him know that you appreciate him for his support of the home and the money he brings home. It excites him to do more.

31. Surprise him with gifts. Even necessities, such as new shoes, can be gifts. You do not need to spend a huge amount of money on it, whatever it is, he will be glad you have the heart of giving.

32. Try (hard as it might be) to take interest in his hobbies. support his football team.

33. Look attractive and play with him. INITIATE SEX

34. Learn tricks and “techniques” to please your husband in intimacy.

35. Prepare for special evenings with him with special dinner and exclusive time (no children permitted).

36. Take care of your skin, especially your face. The face is center of attraction.

37. If you're not satisfied intimately, talk to him and tell him. Help him or provide resources, don’t wait until matters become worse.

38. Always pray for him. Ask God to strengthen and preserve the bonds of compassion and love between the two of you, every day. Ask him to protect that bond .

39. Don’t EVER compare your husbands to other husbands! For example don’t say, “well her husband doesn’t do that, why do you …” (that’s a killer!)

40. Strive for Gods love first and foremost! If all wives try to seek Gods love and pleasure, surely, they can keep their husbands love too. And remember–if God loves you, the angels will love you, and the entire creation will love you.

41. If you pack a lunch for your husband to take to work, from time to time sneak in a little love note or sweet poem. If he doesn’t take a lunch, leave the note somewhere else for him to find, like in his briefcase, or wallet or on the car steering-wheel.

42. Men are big babies, make them feel loved. Mother them and make sure you ‘bosom feed’ him once in a while.

Despite the challenges and difficulties in doing all this, if you manage to accomplish at least a good percentage of this, just sit back and watch your man become yours forever without any hassles!

MONEY TRANSFER MADE EASY WITH FACEBOOK

Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) has introduced a new feature that will allow users to send and receive money through its Messenger app.
The announcement was not completely unexpected as there have been speculations about the company introducing a payment service. The rumors were fueled when PayPal’s president, David Marcus, joined the company to run Facebook Messenger. In July 2014, the rumors were confirmed by Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, who said that there will be a combination of payment and messaging services in the future.
Facebook said that the service will roll out to users in the US over the next few months. The service will be free and users will have to add their debit-card information to their Facebook accounts in order to send or receive money.
The process to transfer money is simple; all users need to do is click the dollar icon and enter the amount they wish to send. The conversation will be recorded in order to avoid any confusion in the future.
Although online payment services have been gaining popularity, security issues remain a prime concern for people. Facebook has taken sufficient measures to minimize the risk of payment frauds. In the beginning, the service will only allow money to be transferred among friends, and users will be required to generate a PIN, as an extra security measure. The company has also recommended using the "login approval" feature, where users are asked to confirm identities by entering a security number. Also, iPhone users can take advantage of the fingerprint ID technology to prevent unauthorized access.
The new feature is likely to give a boost to the company’s messaging service. Facebook currently supports one of the biggest user bases in the world, with over 500 million users.
With such a large user base, it seems to be the right time for the company to launch its payment system. Later, if it gains traction among users, the company may also start supporting credit cards and allow direct purchasing from vendors.
